

{"id":6729,"date":"2024-07-03T12:56:57","date_gmt":"2024-07-03T12:56:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bcenergy.rs\/jp\/?p=6729"},"modified":"2024-07-04T08:35:28","modified_gmt":"2024-07-04T08:35:28","slug":"recovery-of-energy-from-waste-collected-from-belgrades-15-municipalities-commenced-on-july-1-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bcenergy.rs\/jp\/?p=6729","title":{"rendered":"Recovery of Energy-from-Waste Collected from Belgrade\u2019s 15 Municipalities Commenced on July 1st, 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\">[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;6731&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;]<div class=\"cws_spacing\"><div class=\"cws_spacing cws_spacing_default\" style=\"height:20px;\"><\/div><\/div>[\/vc_column][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]BEO \u010cISTA ENERGIJA, the Special Purpose Vehicle company, established by ITOCHU Corporation (Japan), VEOLIA Group (France) and Marguerite, a pan-European infrastructure investor (Luxembourg), successfully commenced on July 1, 2024 the full scope of Services in accordance with the Public-Private-Partnership contract with the City of Belgrade.<\/p>\n<p>BEO \u010cISTA ENERGIJA, together with Belgrade\u2019s Secretariat for Environmental Protection, utilized non-recourse credit facility provided by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Development Bank of Austria (OeEB) and built various new facilities including Energy-from-Waste facility, intended to provide communal services for waste management, treatment, recovery and disposal.<\/p>\n<p>Recovery of green electrical and thermal energy by treating up to 340,000 tons\/year (43,6 t\/hr.) of communal waste in Energy-from-Waste facility will supply electricity to 5% and heat to 10% of households in Belgrade. Additionally, waste treatment will substantially reduce waste landfilling, which coupled with the collection and treatment of all leachate from the landfills, and recovery of construction materials from construction and demolition waste, will contribute to tangible improvement of the environmental conditions in Belgrade and the reduction of CO&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;\/sub&gt; emissions in the amount of 210,000 tons CO2eq\/year.<\/p>\n<p>From July 1, 2024, all facilities are operated and maintained by VEOLIA expert teams under a 25-year operation and maintenance contract.<\/p>\n<p>Ivana Vilotijevic, Acting Deputy Head of the City Administration, and Secretary of the Secretariat for Environmental Protection, declared:<\/p>\n<p>&lt;em&gt;\u201cIn preparation for EXPO 2027, as of July 1, 2024, Belgrade has joined other European capitals committed to environmental responsibility.
