It began with a question that served as the perfect introduction: “How do you manage to make sure it doesn’t smell like garbage here?”

Pupils from second to eighth grade toured key facilities, including the operational station in the entrance zone, the newly built sanitary landfill cells, the leachate treatment plant, the construction waste recycling unit, as well as the EfW plant, where waste is used as a resource to produce electricity and heat for Belgrade residents.

During the tour, pupils learned that the Center operates 24/7 and accepts only non-hazardous municipal waste delivered by the trucks of the PUC “Gradska čistoća,” and that every vehicle entry—as well as the weight of incoming waste—is precisely measured and controlled. Special attention was drawn to the leachate treatment plant, where it was explained that water from the landfill is treated so thoroughly that the purified water discharged into the Danube is completely clean.

The most excitement was sparked by the large bunker of the EfW plant, the cranes and grabbers capable of moving up to 10 tons of waste in a single lift, as well as the central control room where experts monitor all processes within the facility. We also asked our guests what they would like to see built on the site of the old landfill once it is fully remediated and discovered that we share the same vision: green space, a park, and solar panels.

“We are pleased that Beo Čista Energija welcomed the children from Vinča and introduced them to a modern, responsible, and sustainable waste management process that contributes to environmental protection. Considering that Primary School Nikola Tesla has around 2,200 pupils and that we are in the same municipality, we believe this is only the first in a series of educational visits,” stated the directors of Beo Čista Energija.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The Vinča Resource Recovery Center welcomed 50 pupils from “Nikola Tesla” Primary School in Vinča, who had the opportunity to learn about modern municipal waste management processes.

[34,31

post-6928","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-media-releases","category-news
["GET
