As in previous years, second-year master\u2019s students had the opportunity to enhance their practical knowledge in the <em>Waste and Wastewater Management<\/em> course by touring our facilities.<\/p>\n<p>The first generation of students visited the Energy-from-Waste (EfW) facility during its construction phase, while the following generations became familiar with the operation of the completed facility during both the testing and operational phases. In this way, each generation has the chance to observe \u2014 Energy-from-Waste (EfW) plant.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s visit also took place in a positive atmosphere. Vitor Soares, the EfW Manager, guided the students through all stages of the process \u2014 from the waste reception platform and bunker, through operations from the control room, to the boiler where waste is combusted on a Martin grate at a minimum temperature of 850\u00b0C, and finally to the turbine, where he explained how electricity and heat are generated from waste as a renewable energy source contributing to the district heating system and electricity supply for households in Belgrade.<\/p>\n<p>After the EfW plant tour, Chalaris Tzortzis, the Landfill Director, explained the key waste management activities within the complex during the visit to the newly constructed sanitary landfill cells, the construction and demolition waste processing facility, and the leachate treatment plant.<\/p>\n<p>At Beo \u010cista Energija, we are grateful for the opportunity to support the education of future engineers in Serbia \u2014 \u00a0it is a privilege and an important segment of our corporate social responsibility.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the fifth year in a row, the Vin\u010da Resource Recovery Center welcomed a new generation of students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade, as part of the cooperation established in 2021 with the Department of Process Engineering.
