Mr. Aleksandar Obradović, Managing Director of Beo Čista Energija, participated in a panel discussion titled “The Experience of Serbia in Delivering PPPs Aligned with the SDGs” at the 9th UNECE International Forum on Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs). The forum, co-organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Government of Serbia, brought together leading figures from both the public and private sectors to exchange insights on sustainable infrastructure development through PPPs.
The panel was moderated by Mr. Marko Špiler, International Public Procurement and PPP Consultant, and the following speakers contributed to the discussion: Ms. Ana Kaluđerović, General Director International Airport Nikola Tesla, Mr. Siniša Janjušević, CEO Interenergo, Mr. Aleksandar Milikić, Mayor of Bor, Ms. Jelena Tadić, Executive Director PPP Investment, Mr. Vuk Radojević, President Municipality of Bečej, Mr. Mihailo Vesović, Deputy President Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia.
Panelists shared their views on challenges and opportunities in delivering sustainable PPPs within Serbia’s legal and institutional frameworks, the role of public authorities in aligning PPPs with the SDGs and the importance of cooperation with International Financial Institutions (IFIs) regarding such investments.
During the discussion, Mr. Obradović presented the Belgrade Waste Management PPP project as a transformative initiative and a model for tackling similar infrastructure and environmental challenges across the region. He emphasized the importance of efficient public-private collaboration, highlighting that the project not only improves waste management in Belgrade but also contributes significantly to emission reduction, energy recovery and environmental protection.
