Mrs. Dubravka Djedovic, Minister of Mining and Energy, on 23rd Feb 2023 met with Beo Čista Energija managing directors who expressed gratitude for respective cooperation with the Ministry and informed Minister about Energy from Waste facility ongoing hot commissioning activities and plan to start exporting first MWs of electrical energy recovered from communal waste to Serbian high voltage transmission grid in March 2023. Also, it was reported that achieving full operational status of EfW is expected by June 2023 when 30,24 MWel of electrical energy from renewable resource will become available to consumers in the city of Belgrade while starting from next heating season (2023/24) 56,5 MW of thermal energy will be contributed to Belgrade’s district heating system

How Waste Becomes Energy
In the Vinča Resource Recovery Center, 693 000 tons of municipal waste were received in 2025, of which 340 000 tons were thermally treated in the EfW facility, producing electricity enough to supply 30 000 households and heat energy for 60 000 households in Belgrade.
