We had the pleasure of hosting a group of students from Waseda University, one of Japan’s most prestigious universities, at the Vinča Resource Recovery Center.
Led by Professor Kazuhiko Yokota, their visit was part of an educational tour focused on Japanese companies operating abroad and their impact on local development. During their stay in Serbia, the students visited Japanese businesses and local academic institutions to learn more about results of international collaboration.
The transformation of the Vinča dumpsite into a modern waste management center – thanks to ITOCHU Corporation, in partnership with Veolia and the Marguerite Fund, through the Belgrade Waste Management PPP – was one of the key reasons for their interest to visit Serbia.
Teams from Beo Čista Energija and Veolia Waste Vinča Operator welcomed the students and presented the significance of the facilities developed within the PPP project and presented how Vinča Resource Recovery Center have reshaped the waste management system in Belgrade.
We are honored to have shared our story with students from Waseda University whose alumni include Japanese prime ministers and global business leaders.
