The new sanitary landfill started operations in August 2nd, 2021. Municipal waste collected by PUC Gradska čistoća from the territory of 15 municipalities of Belgrade is disposed of at the new landfill in compliance with the highest waste management standards of the European Union and Serbia. A leachate treatment plant will be put into operation soon to which leachate will be conveyed through a network of pipes and canals, and after treatment it will be discharged into the Osljanski stream, so clean water will flow into the international waterway of the Danube River. Leachate will be treated by reverse osmosis technology.
